ATLANTA, Ga. – Brewton-Parker men's track & field opened the outdoor portion of the season at the Panther Invitational hosted by Clark Atlanta on Saturday.
The Barons finished 4th out of 12 teams with a total of 82 points.
Nathaniel Shields recorded a first-place finish in the pole vault to mark a highlight for BPC with a height of 4.30m, followed by
Rhett Harris in second with a mark of 3.20m.
NiShawn Wise highlighted the 100m dash with a sixth-place performance, recording a time of 11.15s which led four other Barons in the event. Wise also produced a seventh-place finish in the 200m with a time of 22.75s in which eight other BPC student-athletes also ran in.
Jabril Muhammad earned a tenth-place finish in the 800m, marking down a time of 2:00.81. In the 5,000m race,
Jacob Hackenberry produced a fifth-place finish with a time of 16:55.11 followed by
Briley Reyes in seventh with a time of 17:06.16.
A total of four hurdlers recorded a top-ten finish, led by
Jamon Tymes in third with a time of 15.65s in the 110m hurdles.
Garrett Ross finished seventh with a time of 16.88s followed by
Calab Williams in ninth with a time of 17.06s and
Bradley Taylor in 10th with a time of 17.86s.
Ross also competed in the 400m hurdles, recording a time of 58.79s for third. As for the 3,000m steeplechase,
Eric Smith finished in second with a time of 11:09.14.
For the jumps, Ryder Sasser notched a 10th-place finish with a mark of 1.83m in the high jump.
During the throws,
Matthew Moore led with a seventh-place finish in the shot put followed by
Malik Brown in 10th. Moore notched a mark of 12.22m while Brown threw a mark of 11.55m.
Kanye Fouch led the discus performance with a third-place finish, throwing for 40.84m while
Kohlman Greer threw for 35.56m for sixth. Brown also competed, earning 10th with a toss of 33.47m.
Greer also produced a third-place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 39.79m followed by Brown's 34.60m toss for seventh.
Daniel Smith notched 10th with a throw of 32.83m.
Lastly, for the javelin, BPC recorded four Barons within the top-ten. Tymes led with a second-place finish with a throw of 41.85m followed by
Jace Upshur in fifth with a mark of 34.94m. Finally, Greer tossed for 34.07m for ninth while
Jacob Worrell threw for 33.92m for 10th.
