MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker College Men's Track and Field opened up their 2023-24 season with a second-place finish at the Barons Invitational on Saturday afternoon at their home track in Mount Vernon.
The track events were highlighted by a first-place finish for
Anthony Ferrie in the 800-meter race with a time of 2:04.83. Ferrie was followed by
DeMario Thomas with a time of 2:07.96 for a second-place finish.
Jordan Hackett (6th, 2:11.47) and
Jonah Galli (8th, 2:15.89) also scored for the Barons in the 800.
Jacob Hackenberry picked up two points for the Barons with seventh place in the 3000-meter race with a time of 10:10.42.
In the 60-meter hurdles,
Bradley Taylor gathered a second-place finish with a time of 8.51s. Taylor was followed by Malachi Williams in third with a time of 9.14s,
Yusuf Abuukar in fourth with a time of 9.27s, and
Lucas McRae in fifth with a finish of 9.36s. For the 60-meter dash,
Hollis Morton was just two-hundredths of a second off of the National qualifying standard of 6.91s with a 6.93s, fourth-place finish and was followed by
Ty'Sheem Denton in fifth with a finish of 7.04s.
Galli put up five more points for the Barons in the mile run with a time of 4:53.23 for a fourth-place finish.
Trey Reid brought in three points with a time of 5:49.12 for sixth place.
Errol Quallo gave the Barons six points with a third-place performance with a time of 50.12s in the 400 meters.
Sean Williams took home a sixth-place finish with a time of 52.05s.
The jump events were highlighted by a second-place finish in the high jump from Quallo with a mark of 1.90 meters.
LeRon Smalls finished in third with a 1.80-meter mark.
Jonah McNealey produced a second-place finish in the triple jump with a mark of 13.83m, while
Geralynn Benton took a seventh-place finish with 12.45 meters, and
Derrick Reid finished with a mark of 11.57m to take eighth place. In the long jump,
Donta' Williams gathered seventh with a mark of 6.18 meters.
Yabaka Moore produced five points in the shot put with a fourth-place finish and a mark of 13.93 meters.
De'Monte Massey picked up a sixth-place finish with a mark of 11.81 meters.
Kohlman Greer was able to gather seventh place with a mark of 11.72 meters. Greer also gathered a second-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 13.54 meters, while
Dan Smith got a mark of 12.81 meters for a sixth-place finish and Moore took an seventh-place finish with a mark of 12.19 meters.

The Barons will take a little break from competing, before traveling to Gainesville, Fla. to compete at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational on Friday, Jan. 12.
