TALLADEGA, Ala. – Brewton-Parker men's basketball opened 2023 with an SSAC contest on the road at Talladega (Ala.) on Tuesday night.
The Barons (3-11, 2-5 SSAC) struggled against the Tornadoes (8-7, 2-5 SSAC) in the 79-51 loss.
How It Happened | 1st Half
- Brewton-Parker struggled to score early as Talladega opened on a 10-0 in the first five minutes of play.
- The Barons found their first points of the game from newcomer Robert Hardy from beyond the arc at the 14:48 mark.
- Hardy's trey was the first score of a 14-2 run from BPC which was capped by another bucket from distance to give the Barons a 14-12 lead with 10:55 remaining in the half.
- Talladega answered with a 14-3 lead of their own to lead by nine points just three minutes later.
- The Tornadoes continued to control the game and eventually built up a commanding 44-24 lead to close out the half, outscoring the Barons 18-7 in the final seven minutes of the first half.
How It Happened | 2nd Half
- Talladega remained in control of the scoreline as the Barons were only able to get as close as 16 points with 14:28 on the clock.
- The Tornadoes were able to hold a comfortable edge over Brewton-Parker for the remainder of the game, outscoring BPC 35-27 in the second half.
- Kenny Colwell led the Barons with nine points in the half, shooting 3-for-6 from beyond the arc.

- Brewton-Parker shot for 33.3% from the field (19-of-57), 25.9% from three (7-of-27), and 54.5% (6-of-11) from the foul line.
- Hardy led with 13 points in his debut for the Barons followed by Colwell's nine points and seven points from Lance Smith as well as Damarcus Johnson Jr.
- Emmanuel Green and Johnson Jr. were the rebounding leaders for BPC with seven each.
Other Notables
- Talladega held a 39-29 advantage in rebounds while also leading the turnover battle 15-18 with 11 steals on the night.
- Tuesday's performance is just the third game that the Barons were held under 60 points on the season.
