MONTREAT, N.C. – Brewton-Parker men's wrestling hit the road to North Carolina to take on a pair of AAC opponents in Montreat, N.C. The Barons (3-12, 1-4 AAC) dropped both duals on Saturday morning.
BPC vs (RV) Montreat
Brewton-Parker opened with an 18-2 tech fall from
Zachary McFarland (125) to give BPC an early 5-0 lead. The Cavaliers (5-5, 4-5 AAC) found themselves in control with a pin over
Isaiah Holland (133) for a 6-5 lead.
Tanner Castillo (141) boosted the Barons back into the driver's seat with a pin over his opponent, giving BPC an 11-6 advantage. Unfortunately, a 12-6 decision over
Bradley Owens (149) sparked a 17-point surge from the hosts as Montreat followed with a tech fall over
Kullum Irvin (157), a forfeit win at 165, and a 7-2 decision over
Dominic Martinez (174) to move to a 23-11 lead with three matches to go.
Charlie Henkel (184) managed to pin his opponent for six team points, but Montreat was able to shut the door with back-to-back pins over
Ethan Larsen (197) and
Tevin Person (285) to close out the dual with the 35-17 victory.
BPC vs #12 Reinhardt
The Eagles (10-2) took an early 9-0 lead with a pin over McFarland (125) and a 5-0 decision over
Tyree Henry (133). Castillo (141) gave the Barons some points with a 7-4 decision, but that proved to be the only team points BPC would find for the dual.
Owens (149) was pinned in his match while Irvin (157) fell by an 18-3 tech fall. Reinhardt picked up free points at 165 with a forfeit from BPC before scoring an 8-2 decision over Martinez (174). Henkel (184) by way of a 15-2 major decision while Larsen (197) lost in an 8-3 decision. Person (285) closed out the dual with a loss by pin to seal the 42-3 loss for the Barons.
