WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Barons Basketball wrapped up action at the SSAC/SUN Challenge in West Palm Beach, Florida with a matchup against Florida Memorial on Friday.
The Barons (3-10) were downed by the Lions (8-6) in an 82-71 loss.
How It Happened | 1st Half
- Florida Memorial opened with a 5-0 lead before Ferlin Joseph netted the first bucket for Brewton-Parker.
- Joseph's bucket was the first score of an 8-2 run by the Barons which boosted BPC to an 8-7 lead with 16:20 left on the clock.
- Over the next two minutes, Brewton-Parker bested the Lions 8-5 to lead 16-12.
- FMU responded with a 6-1 run to reclaim the lead with 11:19 on the clock.
- BPC answered with a pair of free throws from Damarcus Johnson Jr. and a dunk from Grant Sanders to capture the lead at the 10:50 mark.
- Both teams began trading scores back and forth while also leveling the game several times.
- Kenny Colwell knocked down a three-pointer at the 6:13 mark to give the Barons a 30-25 lead.
- Brewton-Parker held one final lead in the half before Florida Memorial closed out with a 15-3 run to lead 45-35 at the break.
How It Happened | 2nd Half
- Chance Hatcher converted a three-point attempt to open the scoring in the half as the Barons started on an 8-3 run to pull within five points with 16:41 remaining.
- Brewton-Parker found themselves in a two-possession game with 14:01 on the clock with Zailan Blue knocking down a trey to move FMU's lead to just 54-50.
- The Lions responded by pulling away to a 66-53 lead by going on a 12-3 run over the span of nearly five minutes, leaving 9:16 on the clock.
- Despite scoring 16 points in the final nine minutes of play, Brewton-Parker was outlasted by Florida Memorial as the Lions closed out the game with 18 points to seal the win, 82-71.

- BPC shot for 39.7% from the field (29-of-73), 25% from three (4-of-16), and 42.9% (9-of-21) from the foul line.
- A trio of Barons scored in double figures with Joseph leading the way with 14 followed by Lance Smith with 13 and Hatcher with 13.
- Both Joseph and Hatcher picked up double-double performances with Hatcher snagging 11 boards while Joseph gathered 10 rebounds.
- Smith and Hatcher also led BPC with five assists apiece.

- Brewton-Parker held a 48-39 advantage in rebounds while also winning the turnover battle by three.
- Defensively, BPC led 15-6 in steals.
