Barons Fall in Exhibition Contest at Embry-Riddle

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Brewton-Parker men's basketball traveled to Daytona Beach, Florida to take on NCAA DII opponent Embry-Riddle (Fla.) for an exhibition contest on Tuesday night.

The Barons (3-1) fell to the Eagles (4-0) in an 88-41 loss on the road.

How It Happened | 1st Half

  • Embry-Riddle slowly built up to a 13-0 lead to open the first seven minutes of the first half.
  • Ferlin Joseph scored the first point for the Barons at the 12:07 mark with a successful free throw.
  • Less than a minute later, Zailan Blue knocked down a three-pointer to put the Barons just 10 points behind the Eagles, 14-4.
  • ERAU went on a 12-0 run, pulling away to a 22-point lead with seven minutes to play in the half.
  • After a trey from Dane Fisher, the Eagles went on another run by adding seven unanswered points over the Barons.
  • After a pair of free throws from Jordan Johnson and a dunk from Grant Sanders, Embry-Riddle closed out the half on a 10-0 run to lead 45-11 at the break.

How It Happened | 2nd Half

  • The Barons opened the second half with a bucket from Jeff Huff Jr.
  • Despite a better offensive performance in the second half for BPC, ERAU managed to keep the Barons from gaining any traction.
  • Embry-Riddle held tough without relinquishing the lead under 30 points.
  • The Barons sporadically converted on shots but managed to produce a 6-0 run late in the half which was the largest run of the game for BPC.
  • ERAU outscored BPC 43-30 in the second half to seal the win, 88-41.

  • BPC shot for 25% (14-of-56) from the field, 22.2% (6-of-27) from three, and 41.2% (7-of-17) from the foul line.
  • Blue led the scoring for Brewton-Parker with eight points followed by Lance Smith with seven and Fisher with six.
