WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The (RV) Brewton-Parker Men's Wrestling program faced MSC South Division foe Keiser (Fla.) on Friday night.
The Barons (0-6, 0-3 MSC) fell to the Seahawks (1-6, 1-4 MSC), 23-20, in dramatic fashion.
Each match throughout the dual proved to be more important as the dual moved along. The dual began with 157 as Levi Bishop fell via pin (3:54) to George Zertopoulis to give Keiser the 6-0 lead.
Seahawks jumped to an early 10-0 lead by securing four points during 165 as Adam El Damir took down Cody Thompson with a 10-2 major decision. Brewton-Parker responded swiftly with 12 points of their own as Douglas Peppers pinned (0:29) Mitchell Clark at 174 while Lucas DeSilva won via forfeit.
BPC shifted the tides as they held to a 12-10 lead, heading to the 197-lb bout. At 197, Hayden Malson picked up a 5-4 decision over Jesse Martin, earning Keiser three points. At 285, Jonathan Whiting fell to Earnest Johnson by way of a 10-1 major decision moving Keiser's lead to 17-12.
Zayveon Mitchell gathered six points with a pin (0:24) over Riley Stevens at 125, earning BPC six points and the lead. At 133, Bryant Santiago fell to Bryce Gonzalez in an 8-3 decision to grant the Seahawks three points and the 20-18 lead.
Bradley Owens picked up a huge win at 141 over James Berlinewith an 8-7 decision, giving Brewton-Parker the 21-20 lead heading to the final match of the night. At 149, Carlos Bogan managed to down Kohlby Hopper with a 9-2 decision to pick up three points and the dual win. The Barons concluded the night by dropping a point for unsportsmanlike conduct, moving the final score to 23-20.
BPC looks ahead to Jan. 27 as they head to Waleska, Ga. to take on Reinhardt (Ga.).
