Mount Vernon, GA — Brewton-Parker Women's Volleyball improved to 4-1 on the season after pulling out a five-set victory over Savannah State on Tuesday night.
The Lady Barons came out strong, taking the opening set 25-9 before Savannah State responded with a 25-15 win in the second. Brewton-Parker regained control with another convincing 25-9 victory in the third, but the Tigers forced a deciding set by taking the fourth 25-18. BPCU closed the night in dominant fashion, winning the fifth set 15-3 to secure the 3-2 victory.
Gianna Anschutz led the BPCU attack with 10 kills, while Amme Mobley added nine kills on a .571 hitting percentage. Ana Villarreal and Ryann Prince each finished with seven kills. Taylor Lamontagne directed the offense with 32 assists while adding four kills.
The Lady Barons also caused problems from the service line, finishing with 12 aces, while the defense totaled 39 digs and six team blocks. Alya Atamer led BPCU with 14 digs, while Villarreal and Lamontagne each recorded six.
Brewton-Parker will take its 4-1 record on the road Friday as the Lady Barons travel to Cleveland, Georgia, for the Bear Invitational.
