MOUNT VERNON, Ga. — The Barons fall to 8-1 to Dalton State College in conference action. The loss moves the Barons to 0-8-1 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Dalton State struck first with goals in the ninth and 11th minutes to take an early 2-0 advantage. Brewton-Parker answered before halftime when Aitor Novoa found the back of the net in the 33rd minute off an assist from Guillem Ropero, cutting the deficit to 2-1 heading into the break.
The Roadrunners extended their lead in the 56th minute before adding another in the 64th. Dalton State continued to pull away late, scoring four more times over the final 20 minutes to secure the 8-1 result.
Brewton-Parker finished the match with two shots, with Novoa recording the Barons' lone shot on goal and Aleksa Dragosavljevic adding an attempt. Dalton State finished with 22 shots, including 16 on goal, while holding a 16-1 advantage in corner kicks.
In goal, Karolis Zukauskas recorded six saves through 70-plus minutes of action, while Lukas Manigold Quevedo added two saves in relief. The two combined for eight saves on the night.
Brewton-Parker will remain at home Saturday, Sept. 19, when the Barons host Life University at 2:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon.
