New Orleans, LA — Brewton-Parker Men's soccer closed out its two-match road trip Saturday evening, falling 6-0 to Xavier University of Louisiana. The loss moves the Barons to 0-7-1 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
Xavier jumped out to an early advantage with goals in the seventh and ninth minutes. Brewton-Parker was then forced to play a man down for the remainder of the match after Iker Galvez received a red card in the 14th minute. Despite the disadvantage, the Barons kept Xavier off the scoreboard for the remainder of the first half and entered the break trailing 2-0.
Brewton-Parker generated two first-half attempts, including a shot from Biel Ibanez in the 33rd minute. The Barons continued looking for opportunities after halftime, but Xavier added four second-half goals to pull away.
The Barons finished with four shots and three corner kicks. Ibanez recorded two attempts, while Victor Fernadez and Guillem Ropero each added a shot. Xavier finished with 26 shots, putting 16 on goal.
In goal, Diego Carrera recorded eight saves before Karolis Zukauskas entered for the final 16-plus minutes and added two saves. The two combined for 10 saves on the night.
Brewton-Parker will return home Thursday, Sept. 17, when the Barons host Dalton State College at 7:30 p.m. in Mount Vernon.
