MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons flag football team hosted the Skyhawks of Point University on March 28, 2026. The Barons fell behind early and struggled to mount a comeback, dropping the game 26-12. 

The early swing came at the 2:59 mark of the first quarter, when Nyleigha Knighton turned a Corriah Williams completion into a 63-yard scoring play for a 6-0 Point lead. Point added to it early in the second quarter when Chinera Shaheed caught a touchdown pass, and the extra point made it 13-0. The Barons answered at 3:56 of the second, cutting the margin to 13-6 on a rushing touchdown from Keshauna Gusby.

Point regained control after halftime. Leah Prather caught a touchdown pass from Williams at the 10:19 mark of the third quarter to push the advantage to 19-6, and the same connection to the end zone surfaced again late in the fourth-quarter scoring sequence for the visitors. With 38 seconds left, Point extended the lead to 26-6 on a 3-yard touchdown pass from Williams to Shaheed, seemingly putting the result out of reach. After pushing the game out of reach and regaining the ball, the Skyhawks tried to score once more with less than 15 seconds to go, but ended up throwing a 78-yard pick-six to Kennedy Osborne. Despite the late-game dramatics, the Barons were unable to stop the Skyhawks' offense and lost the game.

The Barons will begin preparing and look to bounce back when they take on the Eagles of Reinhardt University on April 2, 2026.
