Barons Fall to #2 Seahawks

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU)  Barons flag football team hosted the #2 Keiser University Seahawks on March 18, 2026, in Mount Vernon. The Barons were unable to stop the Seahawks' dominant offense, dropping the game 34-12.

The Seahawks started the game with a four-minute touchdown drive, powered by their quarterback's dominant play. The Barons' defense answered on the point after attempt, breaking it up to keep the game at 6-0. The Barons would come out humming on offense and respond with a touchdown drive behind the dominant running of Keshauna Gusby, who drove the Barons downfield, taking up nearly the remainder of the time in the first quarter. Gusby found D'nAsia Leonard-Potts with just under two minutes remaining in the quarter to tie the game at six. The Barons failed to convert their two-point attempt, and the Seahawks intercepted and returned the ball for two points, taking an 8-6 lead.

The Seahawks would take the ball in the second quarter and score on a fourteen-play drive and convert the extra point to take a 15-6 lead. Keiser would again score after a defensive stop just before halftime to go up 22-6 at the break. After halftime, the Seahawks got an early stop and converted on their next drive to make it 28-6, and were stopped on a two-point conversion by Sophia Souza, who sacked the quarterback. The Barons then traded chances until late in the fourth quarter, when they scored a rushing touchdown thanks to SeAnna Johnson but failed to get the two-point conversion, cutting the lead to 28-12. The Seahawks would then use the final two minutes of the game to score one last time to seal it and take the victory.

The Barons will be back in action on March 19, 2026, in Mount Vernon, when they host St. Thomas University for another Sun Conference clash.
