Barons Swept by Stallions

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU)  Barons baseball team was swept by the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in a conference doubleheader on March 14, 2026. The Barons struggled offensively, dropping game one 8-2 and game two 8-3.

Game one saw ABAC set the tone by scoring two runs in each of the first four innings, building an 8-0 cushion that stood until the Barons finally broke through in their last at-bat. Brewton-Parker's late push at the top of the seventh, highlighted by back-to-back doubles from Jack Morris and Marquette Gibson, produced two runs. The Barons were unable to add any more offense to come back and lost game one.

Game two saw a defensive battle, with a shutout until the Barons scored twice at the top of the seventh to take the first lead of the game. The Barons capitalized on a defensive miscue to plate the game's first run, then added another when Marquette Gibson lined an RBI single, giving Brewton-Parker a 2-0 cushion and momentum on the road. The Stallions struck at the bottom of the seventh to tie the game and then exploded in the bottom of the eighth, scoring six more runs to take an 8-2 lead. The Barons managed to score one more run at the top of the ninth, but the Stallions' bullpen closed the door, sealing the series.

The Barons will host Georgia Gwinnett in a midweek game on March 17, 2026, before traveling to Mississippi for a conference series against the Crusaders of William Carey University.
