MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University (BPCU) Barons baseball team traveled to Tifton, Ga., to face off against the Stallions of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in a conference series. The Stallions jumped to an early lead and rode it to a 10-6 victory over the Barons in the first game of the series.
ABAC built its cushion steadily with a run in the first, two more in the third, and a solo homer in the fourth, then broke the game open with a four-run fifth. The Barons trailed 8-0 through five innings before the offense broke through, producing six runs over the final four frames to tighten the contest. The Barons scored twice in the sixth and added a four-run surge in the eighth to pull within 10-6, bringing the tying run to the on-deck circle before ABAC's bullpen closed the door.
Fred Diaz powered the Barons' offense, putting them on the board in the sixth with a two-run home run that scored Michael Son and cut the deficit to 8-2. Diaz finished with two runs scored and two RBI, providing a key spark in the middle innings.
The Barons will look to use the late-game rally and momentum to bounce back in the doubleheader scheduled for March 14, 2026, in Tifton and look to steal the series from the Stallions.
