The Crusaders seized control early, pushing across two runs at the top of the first inning. After an error allowed the leadoff hitter to reach, the Crusaders used execution to manufacture the opening damage, first with a sacrifice fly before the Barons could settle in defensively. The Barons were unable to get much going against Sawyer and got no-hit in game one.
Game two saw the Barons find a little success but still struggle. The Crusaders once again struck early, scoring twice at the top of the first, and never gave up control after that. The Crusaders scored again at the top of the third before the Barons answered in the bottom of the inning. Tori Wright reached and moved into scoring position, Anna Green put the Barons on the board with an RBI double, trimming the deficit to 3-1. Head Coach Madison Herrin reflected on the day, saying, "Tough day at the plate for us against a very well-coached softball team. We get an opportunity to get back at it tomorrow afternoon."
