MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons hosted the Faulkner University Eagles on February 5, 2026. In a closely contested conference matchup, the Lady Barons stunned the Eagles with a fourth-quarter comeback with under 5 minutes left. The Lady Barons forced overtime and won the game 72-70 to get back in the win column.
Â
Jasmine Lenyard finished with a team-high 27 points and five rebounds, going 9-for-21 from the field and 5-for-10 at the line. Her final trip to the stripe came after Faulkner's Sydney Steward drilled a 3-pointer with nine seconds remaining in overtime to trim the Brewton-Parker lead to 71-70. The Barons got the ball in quickly, drew a foul, and Leynard converted one of two free throws to restore a two-point cushion that held at the horn.
The game was competitive from the outset. Faulkner opened with a 16-12 edge after the first quarter behind perimeter shooting, including a late 3-pointer from Addison Cantrell. Brewton-Parker answered in the second quarter, outscoring the Eagles 19-10 to take a 31-26 halftime lead, highlighted by a Lenyard 3-pointer at the 1:44 mark. Faulkner regrouped in the third, using back-to-back baskets and a 3-pointer from Connell to move in front 40-38, setting the stage for a tightly contested finish.
Â
Brewton-Parker offset Faulkner's outside shooting with balanced contributions and timely plays on both ends. Sydney Beasley scored 14 points and knocked down three 3-pointers, while Andrian Stewart controlled the glass with a game-high 18 rebounds to go along with seven points and two blocks.
Â
Head Coach Steve Edwards reflected on the team's performance, saying. "Proud of the way we fought today. Faulkner is one of the hottest teams in our league. They are a really good team. We've had some bad bounces most of the season, but we still believe in this group. Tonight shows why."
Â
The Lady Barons will look to harness the momentum from the big overtime win and carry it into Saturday's matchup against the visiting Mobile University Rams. The Rams will be the last home game before the Lady Barons head back out on the road for a two-game swing. Â
