Barons Sweep Coca-Cola Classic

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons swept the Coca-Cola Classic hosted by Columbia International University (S.C.), winning both games on February 14, 2026. The Barons won game one against Kentucky Christian University 9-6 and later beat the hosting CIU Rams 7-4 to go undefeated at the tournament.

Brewton-Parker set the tone early in game one with a four-run first inning. Alyssa Usrey delivered the first big blow, roping a two-run double as the Barons jumped out to a 4-0 lead, with additional RBI production from Kaylee Odum and Addison Long in the frame. The offense continued to apply pressure with single runs in the second and third innings, building a 6-2 cushion before Kentucky Christian began to climb back.

Kentucky Christian chipped away with runs in the second, third, and fifth innings, then mounted its biggest push in the sixth. Behind a rally that included an RBI single and additional scoring on a wild pitch, the Knights pulled even at 6-6. Brewton-Parker immediately answered in the bottom of the inning, stringing together quality at-bats for a three-run response that put the game out of reach at 9-6. The Barons' pitching staff limited Kentucky Christian to nine hits while recording five strikeouts over seven innings.

Anna Green powered the game one effort with a standout performance at the plate, finishing 4-for-4 with two runs scored, four RBI, and a home run to pace the lineup. Long added two hits, one RBI, and a run, while Usrey's two-run double highlighted the opening frame. In the circle, Odum worked 5.0 innings, allowing five hits and three earned runs with four strikeouts on 76 pitches to help keep Brewton-Parker in front for most of the contest.

The Barons carried that momentum into game two against CIU, again jumping out early and turning back a midgame rally to complete the sweep, 7-4. Brewton-Parker scored in the first inning when Tori Wright reached on a single and later came around on a fielder's choice and error sequence. The Barons broke the game open in the third with a three-run inning, capped by an RBI single from Jenny Braddy and a two-run double from Shelby Aiken to build a 4-0 advantage.

CIU answered in the fourth, cutting the margin to 4-3, then added another run in the fifth to stay within striking distance. Brewton-Parker again responded immediately at the top of the fifth, as Destiny Lucas delivered a key two-run single to extend the lead. Lucas added an insurance run in the seventh with a sacrifice fly to make it 7-4, and the Barons' defense did the rest, stranding eight CIU runners as Brewton-Parker closed out its second win of the day.

Head Coach Madison Herrin reflected on the games saying, "The girls did a great job this weekend! It seems that they are working together in all areas of the game looking forward to getting back in action again next week."

The Barons will be back in action for a midweek doubleheader, taking on Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga., on February 17, 2026, where they will look to keep their undefeated streak alive.
