Barons Swept By TItans

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons baseball team hosted the Indiana University South Bend Titans in a doubleheader on February 12, 2026, and despite flashes of strong play, collapsed and dropped both games. The Titans rallied in the seventh inning of game one to take the game 5-2, and then in a heartbreaking extra-inning loss, the Titans won game two 13-11 to sweep the Barons.

Game one saw both teams open the scoring in the fourth inning with the Titans hitting a solo shot to take an early one-run lead before Marquette Gibson and Jeremi Lara each hit solo shots to take a 2-1 lead, which lasted til the seventh. The Barons relied on solid pitching from Steven Trinidad, who threw 6.2 before stranding two runners, and the Barons turned to Jack Hulse. Hulse struggled, and the Titans tied the game on a wild pitch before the Barons turned to Jackson Barnes to get the Barons out of the inning, but not before giving up three more runs. The Barons failed to score in the bottom of the seventh and dropped the first game of the day.

Game two saw the Barons open the scoring with an RBI single from Fred Diaz in the first inning, but the Titans struck in the second and third to take a lead of 3-2 after three innings. The Barons rallied and had the lead after a two-run fourth and three run fifth inning. The sixth inning saw a monumental collapse from the Barons when they gave up seven runs before recording their first out of the inning. Despite their defensive struggles, the Barons rallied, scoring three runs in the bottom of the sixth, capitalizing on Titan errors to cut the lead to 11-10 before scoring one run in the bottom of the seventh to extend the game to extra-innings of a Zach Carlton RBI single. The Barons gave up a solo shot in the top of the eighth and an RBI single to go down 13-11, which proved to be too much for the Barons to overcome as they dropped game two.

The Barons will look to rebound in another doubleheader against the Titans on February 14, 2026, in two more seven-inning games.
