MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons split their doubleheader against the Titans of Indiana University South Bend on February 14, 2026, at home. The Barons started strong and took game one 15-6 after a surge in the fourth inning, but were unable to stop the Titans late in the second game, dropping it 7-6 to end the four-game series.
Despite a slow start in game one, the Barons' lineup erupted for eight runs in that fourth inning, turning a five-run hole into an 8-5 lead. Fred Guzman Diaz sparked the comeback with a three-run homer, and later in the frame, Anthony Savarese followed with a grand slam that capped the outburst and put the Barons firmly in front. Jack Morris helped keep the pressure on throughout the game with a three-hit, three-RBI performance as Brewton-Parker finished the opener with 15 runs on 12 hits and no errors, while leaving just four on base.
The Barons continued to add on in the middle innings to put game one out of reach. They pushed across four runs in the fifth to extend the lead to 12-5, then plated three more in the sixth for a 15-6 cushion. On the mound, the Brewton-Parker staff covered seven innings and allowed six earned runs, with reliever Vincent VerPault earning the win in relief. VerPault worked 3.1 innings, surrendering just one earned run while striking out four, helping to steady the game after the Titans' early surge.
Game two followed a similar pattern early as Indiana University South Bend again built a sizable lead before Brewton-Parker mounted a response. The Titans scored single runs in the first and second innings, then exploded with a four-run fourth inning.
The Barons answered immediately in the bottom of the fourth to climb back into the game. The Barons struck for five runs in the inning, highlighted by a three-run homer from Marquette Gibson that cut the Titans' lead to 6-5. After a scoreless fifth, Brewton-Parker completed the comeback in the sixth when Diaz delivered again with an RBI single to tie the game at 6-6. Diaz finished game two with three hits and one RBI as the Barons totaled six runs on nine hits and drew five walks. The Barons' pitching staff was unable to stop the Titans from scoring in the seventh after the leadoff man reached first and later scored off an error. The Titans' closer sat down the Barons in order to end the game.
