MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons take down the Middle Georgia State University Knights in a midweek game on February 17, 2026, at home. The Barons built an early lead and held on to it to take down the Knights 7-4.
The Barons built an early 3–0 lead with single runs in the second, third, and fourth innings before Middle Georgia State answered with two runs in the fourth to trim the margin to 3–2. After Brewton-Parker's bullpen stabilized the game, the Barons produced the decisive rally in the sixth, then tacked on insurance in the seventh and turned the ball over to closer Jack Hulse to finish off the nine-inning win.
Brewton-Parker opened the scoring in the second when Marquette Gibson lifted a sacrifice fly to bring home Michael Son for a 1–0 advantage. The Barons added another run in the third and pushed the lead to 3–0 in the fourth before Middle Georgia State responded. The Knights' fourth-inning push came on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. After a scoreless fifth, Brewton-Parker seized control for good in the bottom of the sixth. Jack Morris delivered an RBI single as part of a three-run frame, and later in the inning, Jihad Guy executed a steal of home, capping the outburst and extending the lead to 6–2. The Barons added a seventh run in the seventh when Son drove in another tally with a sacrifice fly, giving Brewton-Parker a 7–2 cushion while keeping the pressure on Middle Georgia State's pitching staff.
On the mound, Brewton-Parker used multiple arms to navigate nine innings, with right-hander Vincent VerPault earning the win in relief. VerPault worked 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing three hits with one strikeout and no runs. The Barons' staff surrendered 12 hits and four runs but limited the damage with timely outs, while Hulse closed the door in the late innings to secure the save.
The Barons will travel to Dayton, Tennessee, to face off against Brian College and the University of Saint Francis (Ind.) in a doubleheader on February 20-21, 2026. The Barons will look to build off their midweek momentum, taking down Middle Georgia as they continue their campaign.
