HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The Lady Barons wrapped up its second consecutive day of conference play, falling 3-0 to William Carey University. The setback moves the Lady Barons to 11-8 overall and 3-5 in conference play.
Coming off Thursday's matchup against Mobile, Brewton-Parker faced another challenging road test against a William Carey squad that entered the contest among the conference's top teams.
The Crusaders established an early advantage behind an efficient offensive attack, limiting the Lady Barons to six kills in each of the opening two sets. William Carey maintained control through its defensive presence at the net, making it difficult for BPCU to establish a consistent offensive rhythm.
Despite the early struggles, Brewton-Parker found its offensive stride in the third set. The Lady Barons delivered their strongest attacking performance of the afternoon, recording 14 kills while hitting .344. However, William Carey answered with 17 kills and a .406 hitting percentage to complete the sweep.
BPCU finished the afternoon with 26 kills, 24 assists, seven service aces and 27 digs. The Lady Barons held a narrow advantage in service aces, while William Carey recorded 39 kills and seven blocks.
Patrycja Kabala led Brewton-Parker's offensive effort with nine kills on a .333 hitting percentage, adding three digs and a service ace. Ryann Prince followed with five kills while hitting .300, and Nicolly Chaves contributed four kills and a block assist.
Taylor Lamontagne provided a strong performance from the service line, recording a match-high four aces to go along with nine assists and a team-leading five digs. Daniela Galarza paced the Lady Barons with 12 assists and added four digs.
Amme Mobley chipped in four kills and a block assist, while Nayah Whitfield finished with three kills.
The Lady Barons will continue their SSAC road schedule on Friday, October 16, when they travel to Pulaski, Tennessee, to face the University of Tennessee Southern.
