Lady Barons Look to Regroup Following Mobile Setback

MOBILE, Ala. — The Brewton-Parker Women's volleyball team came up short against the University of Mobile, falling 3-0 in conference action. The loss moves the Lady Barons to 11-7 overall and 3-4 in conference play.

Brewton-Parker opened the match with a competitive effort, keeping pace with the Rams throughout the first set. The Lady Barons recorded nine kills in the opening frame, but Mobile found its rhythm late to gain the early advantage.

The Rams carried that momentum into the second set, using an efficient offensive attack to extend their lead. Despite BPCU's efforts to stay within striking distance, Mobile continued to capitalize on its opportunities.

The Lady Barons showed determination in the final set, improving their offensive production with 10 kills and a .143 hitting percentage. However, Mobile delivered its strongest attacking performance of the evening to secure the sweep.

Despite the setback, Brewton-Parker held advantages in service aces and blocks, finishing with eight aces and six blocks. Mobile led in kills, 40-27, and digs, 48-29.

Patrycja Kabala paced the Lady Barons with seven kills, two service aces and eight digs. Ana Villarreal contributed five kills and eight digs, while Amme Mobley added five kills, hitting .417, along with two service aces.

Nayah Whitfield recorded four kills, while Ryann Prince anchored the defensive effort at the net with four total blocks. Taylor Lamontagne distributed a team-high 12 assists, followed by Daniela Galarza with nine.

The Lady Barons will look to bounce back on Friday, October 9 to take on William Carey University in another SSAC matchup.
