Early Breakthrough Fades as Barons Fall to Night Hawks

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Barons struck first against Thomas University but was unable to maintain its early advantage, falling 6-1 in conference play. The setback moves the Barons to 1-13-1 overall and 1-8 in conference play.

Brewton-Parker came out with an aggressive offensive approach, creating scoring opportunities early in the contest. Aitor Novoa tested the Thomas goalkeeper in the opening minutes, while André Xavier added another attempt on target as the Barons looked to establish control.

That pressure paid off in the 25th minute when Aitor Novoa found the back of the net off an assist from Biel Ibanez, giving Brewton-Parker a 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Novoa's fourth of the season and provided an early spark for the visitors.

Thomas responded in the 32nd minute when Ethan Moore connected on the equalizer, sending both teams into halftime tied at 1-1.

The second half proved challenging for Brewton-Parker as the Night Hawks began to find their offensive rhythm. Jose Bonilla Ortiz broke the deadlock in the 58th minute before Jake Wright delivered three consecutive goals to extend Thomas' advantage. Moore added his second goal of the afternoon in the closing minutes to complete the scoring.

Despite the result, the Barons generated eight shots, placing six on goal. Iker Galvez led the offensive effort with three attempts, while Novoa contributed two shots, both on target. André Xavier, Bryan Flores and Tyler Ritchie each added a shot on goal.

Defensively, goalkeeper Diego Carrera recorded five saves against a Thomas attack that finished with 16 shots, including 11 on target.

The Barons will return home on Thursday, October 15, to host Bob Jones University in their Senior Day matchup. Brewton-Parker will honor its senior student-athletes as the team takes the field for its final home celebration of their collegiate careers.
