MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In the opening of conference play on September 18, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons women's soccer team sealed a significant 3-0 victory against Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers. The match took place in Blue Mountain, MS, elevating the Barons to a record of 3-3-0, with this match marking their first conference victory of the season.
The game remained evenly matched in the first half, with neither team able to break the deadlock, leading to a 0-0 halftime score. The second half, however, showcased the Barons' offensive capabilities.
Laura Marin broke the silence with a goal at 55:51, giving Brewton-Parker the lead. Not long after, at 67:58, Harley Hill widened the gap with another goal.
Amy Sagastume solidified the win with a final goal at 78:56.
Mikayla Johnson and Marin assisted on the goals, helping lift the team to victory. Goalkeeper
Angel Camacho finished the game with a clean sheet, stopping all four shots she faced.
Head Coach Philip Borde expressed his feelings about the performance, praising the team's effort, "First foremost, I want to give thanks to our Lord and Savior, not just for the win but also for keeping our team healthy. I will give credit where credit is due. Our girls worked hard to win the game and did not get frustrated by some early missed opportunities. However, in terms of consistency in certain aspects of soccer, we were not at our best. I'm grateful for the three points, but there are a lot of adjustments we have to make before the next few games. Once again, I thank God for the victory and the health of our players."
Looking ahead, the Barons are set to face the University of Tennessee Southern on September 20, 2025, in Pulaski, Tenn., as they aim to build on their current momentum.
