Barons Swept by Toppers

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Barons dropped both doubleheader games on April 7th, 2025, against the Toppers of Blue Mountain Christian University. Blue Mountain Christian University Toppers narrowly defeated the Brewton-Parker College Barons, walking off both games, taking game one in the eighth inning 3-2 and game two with a final score of 9-8 at Blue Mountain, Mississippi. Despite a valiant effort and a strong start, the Barons could not overtake the early lead established by the Toppers.

Game one started promisingly for the Barons as they took the lead in the first inning courtesy of a sacrifice fly RBI from Hailey Gabrich. Lexi Bradshaw and Kaylee Odum were notable at the plate, contributing crucial runs for Brewton-Parker. Additional robust performances came from Alyssa Usrey, who, alongside Odum, showcased strong defensive skills and managed a critical single in the fifth inning, ultimately leading to Odum's run. Despite their best efforts, the Barons could not maintain their lead and lost in extra innings.

In game two, several players delivered impressive performances. Tori Wright and Lexi Bradshaw stood out, each scoring 3 runs; Wright also hit a triple, while Bradshaw hammered a double and gathered 3 hits. Abbey Flowers contributed significantly with a double and 3 RBIs. The Barons could not stop the Toppers' offense early, giving up six runs in the first. The Barons took the lead late but failed to stop the Toppers from scoring two runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off.

Looking ahead, the Barons are set to face the University of Tennessee Southern on April 8th, 2025, in Pulaski, Tennessee. With their current record standing at 12-19-1, the Barons remain determined to enhance their season standings in the upcoming games.
