MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – The Barons started their home stand with a thrilling 8-4 victory over the Shawnee State Bears on February 7, 2025. The Barons' explosive offense and strong pitching helped them cruise to victory.

The Barons' bats were on fire throughout the game. Jeremi Lara and Marquette Gibson led the charge by hitting key home runs to help boost the Barons to victory. Adding a two-run homer in the 7th inning, Lara totaled 3 RBIs, while Gibson contributed 2 RBIs along with multiple run scores. The starting pitcher for the Barons, Brandon Russell, along with relievers who maintained the lead, were fundamental in curbing the Bears' advances. The Barons managed to take long at-bats, forcing the Bears to throw multiple arms in game one of the three-game stand.
