MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Softball team kicked off the doubleheader with a 9-0 victory against the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) Fillies in game one of their conference clash on February 21, 2025, in Tifton, Georgia. The Barons lost in extra innings in game two, falling 9-8 to the Fillies for the series split on the road. The Barons record now sits at 6-7-1 and 1-1 in conference after the doubleheader.
In game one,
Tori Wright was a standout player, driving in three runs and scoring two, including when she tripled and then scored on a wild pitch in the first inning. The following innings saw consistent scoring from the Barons, particularly in the second inning when
Hailey Gabrich hit a two-RBI triple. The third inning further solidified their lead with significant contributions from Cailiyn Snellgrov, who had a sacrifice fly with an RBI, and Wright, who added an RBI double.
Alyssa Usrey also made a notable contribution by scoring on an error in the same inning.
Kaylee Odum, the starting pitcher for Brewton-Parker, delivered a stellar performance, helping shut out the Fillies and securing the victory with essential pitches at critical moments. The collective effort from the team not only demonstrates their burgeoning prowess but also balances their season record at 6-6-1.
In game two, the Baron jumped out to an early lead, scoring in each of the first three innings.

Alyssa Usrey, and Cailiyn Snellgrove drove in runs to give the Barons an early lead. In the bottom of the third, the Fillies scored six to take the lead back. The Barons tied it in the fourth and took the lead in the sixth before the Fillies tied it again in the bottom of the sixth. The Barons and Fillies repeated this in the eighth inning. Unfortunately, the Barons could not score in the top of the ninth, and the Fillies took home the win in extras.

Madison Herrin reflected on the teams performance, "The ladies played hard today. Probably the best they have played since the season started. Our pitchers threw well and our hitters were seeing the ball well. ABAC is a well coached team and are going to do well this season," The team grabbed their third straight split this season.
Looking ahead, the Barons are set to face Point in a doubleheader in West Point, Georgia, on February 22, 2025. The team is keen to carry forward their momentum and showcase their abilities in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
