Barons End Weekend with Sweep of Skyhawks

MOUNT VERNON, Ga.  - The Brewton-Parker Barons Went on the road and dominated, sweeping the Point Skyhawks on February 22, 2025. The Barons won game one in a tightly contested game with a score of 2-1. In game two, the Barons dominated, cruising to victory and the series sweep, winning 10-2. The Barons' weekend sweep brings them to 8-7-1 on the year as they continue with their conference schedule.

In game one, Alyssa Usrey and Abbey Banks led from the front, scoring the decisive runs that ultimately set the Barons ahead. Tori Wright had a stellar performance for Brewton-Parker, driving in both runs of the game. Kaylee Odum, the starting pitcher, also stood out by delivering a complete game, registering six strikeouts, and conceding just one earned run over her seven innings on the mound. The defensive tactics and Odum's tenacity ensured minimal leeway for the Skyhawks, allowing only five hits.

Game two saw Tori Wright, Abbey Flowers, Hailey Gabrich, and others contributing crucial runs to secure the sweep on the road. From the start of the game, Brewton-Parker's offense was on fire, accumulating 15 hits. Wright notably added a pivotal double in the 7th inning, driving in two RBIs, further extending the team's lead. The offensive support paired well with the stellar pitching by starter Natalie O'Neal, who held the Skyhawks at bay.

Coach Madison Herrin praised the team's performance: "The team played well all weekend. We had great pitching performances in our games and swung the bat well! It's hard to win on the road, but this team did. Back to work to prepare for a good Thomas University team." This victory underlines Brewton-Parker's ability to perform under pressure and improves their season record to 8-7-1. The Barons now look forward to their next encounter, again on the road, against Thomas University in Mount Vernon on March 1.
