Barons Come Up Short Against UT Southern

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a gripping SSAC conference basketball game at the Curry Athletic Complex on February 15, the University of Tennessee Southern Firehawks narrowly defeated the Brewton-Parker Barons with a final score of 79-76. Despite leading at halftime 36-30, the Barons could not maintain their lead throughout the second half.

Zsolt Burrows led Brewton-Parker's scoring efforts, accumulating 19 points. He significantly bolstered the team with his free-throw accuracy and a remarkable three-pointer off an assist from Sam Faraday-Bensley. Additional contributions came from Dre Burroughs, who scored 14 points and seven rebounds, and Tommy J Tisdale III, who also scored 13 points.

Defensively, Brewton-Parker showcased its strength. Grant Sanders blocked crucial shots, while Jordon Spicer led steals with two significant takeaways, contributing to the Barons' strong defensive performance.

This loss moves Brewton-Parker's season record to 7-20 overall and 3-14 in the conference. Looking ahead, Brewton-Parker will face off against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, Georgia, on February 20, seeking redemption and aiming to improve their conference standing.
