Baron Duals

MOUNT VERNON, Ga.  - The Brewton-Parker Christian University Barons hosted the Baron Duals at Gillis Gymnasium on November 15, 2025. The event saw the Barons hosting St. Thomas University, West Virginia Tech University, and Cumberland University.  

The first duel saw the Barons face off against the Bobcats. Despite their best efforts, the Bobcats took the faceoff, winning with a final score of 34-12. Despite the loss, the match saw several outstanding individual performances from the Barons, including Arthur Reed and Justin Whitney, who both pinned their respective opponents. Reed secured six points in the 149lbs clash, and Whitney, who grabbed the other six points for the Barons in the 157lbs showdown.

The second match of the day saw the Barons take on the Goldenbears of West Virginia Tech. The Barons dominated the face-off, winning it 40-16, and saw four Barons pin their opponents. Alarik Gibson kicked off the match with an impressive pin in the 125lbs matchup. Connor Wright was the next Baron to pin his opponent, taking home the six points in the 141. Arthur Reed got his second pin of the day once again in the 149lbs showdown. Axel Andrews pinned his opponent in the 165. The Barons also saw Justin Whitney and Gailan Wilds win via technical fall, grabbing five points each in the 157lbs and 174lbs matchups. Zaqheul Davis took home a win in the 184lbs matchup via forfeit. 

The final match of the day saw the Barons struggle with the #9 Cumberland University. The Phoenixes dominated the match from start to finish. Winning the dual with a commanding score of 56-0. 
 

Head Coach Tyler Smith reflected on his team's performance. "We took a step in the right direction today. We still have a lot of growing up and maturing to do, that's why we wrestle this tough of the schedule. Back to work on Monday." 

The Barons will look to regroup before heading to the Life Open on November 22, 2025. The Barons have had the opportunity to face challenging opponents and strive to continue growing throughout the rest of the season.
