MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - In a challenging non-conference matchup, the Brewton-Parker Christian University Lady Barons faced off against the Freed-Hardeman (TN) Lions on November 14, 2025, at the Eagles' Nest in Marietta, Ga.. Despite determined efforts from Brewton-Parker, the Lions dominated the game, leading to a 68-44 victory for Freed-Hardeman in the neutral site showdown.
The Lady Barons started the first quarter with a layup by
Chasity Degale. They struggled to maintain momentum as Freed-Hardeman quickly took control, leaving the Lions ahead 22-7 at the end of the first quarter. The second quarter saw Brewton-Parker battling to narrow the gap, missing key shots while the Lions reinforced their lead, ending the first half at 36-13.
The third quarter saw
Ja'Ka'Yah Draughn adding crucial points for the Lady Barons. Still, Freed-Hardeman's solid performance, particularly from Brooklyn Crouch, kept them well ahead with a score of 54-31 by the end of the quarter. Despite a final push from Brewton-Parker in the last quarter, Freed-Hardeman maintained its substantial lead till the end, rounding off the game with a final score of 68-44.
Head Coach
Steve Edwards shared his thoughts following the game. "We played a really good team tonight. Our unforced turnovers put us in some really bad spots. We are working hard to clean up those mistakes.
"We are a much better team than our current record. We have played a really difficult schedule. Our group is learning some tough, valuable lessons. I don't enjoy losing, but I am enjoying grinding with this group. We just need a little more time to get connected.
"We are right back at it tomorrow against a sweet 16 team from last year. We will be prepared, and we will compete."

Andranique Stewart led defensively with nine rebounds.
