Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | Ryan Feaster- Assistant Sports Information Director

Barons Fall to Freed-Hardeman

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Barons Soccer team traveled to Freed-Hardeman University hoping to end their losing streak and start a turnaround in the season. Sadly, the Lions had other plans and defeated the Barons two to nothing. The Barons showed a much stronger performance in the first half and managed to hold off the Lions until 16 minutes into the second half.

Coach Bob Neuman shared his opinion on his team's performance. "The boys worked their socks off in the first 45 minutes. Defensively, very resolute, and difficult to break down. Unfortunately, with a few key players missing and some injuries sustained during the trip this week, we lacked the necessary depth to succeed for the whole 90 minutes. It will be good to get back to Mount Vernon and hopefully get some guy's treatment they need to get back to their best."

First Half

The Barons had a clean slate for the entire first half and matched well enough to prevent the Lions from scoring despite their eight shots in the first half. Gerardo Morales made three saves in the first half. The Barons led in corner kicks three to two. The Lions outshot the Barons in the first half eight to three. The Lions also led in fouls in the first half nine to five despite leaving the first half with both teams having one yellow card each.

Second half

In the second half, the Lions took over with scoring opportunities, shooting 16 shots and forcing Gerardo to make six saves. The Lions led in corners two to one, fouls six to three, and left the second half with two yellows to the Barons one.
