Baseball Drops First of Two at (RV) Point; Second Game Called Off Due to Weather

WEST POINT, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Baseball continued the weekend series at (RV) Point (Ga.) on Saturday afternoon with a doubleheader in West Point, Ga.

The Barons (17-26, 9-17 SSAC) slipped to the Skyhawks (30-14, 16-10 SSAC) in the first game of the day in a tight 1-0 loss. As for game two, the contest was paused in the bottom of the fourth due to weather and eventually called off due to poor playing conditions.

How It Happened | G1 – BPC 0, PU 1 (7 Inn.)

Brewton-Parker struggled offensively in the first game of the afternoon, notching just five hits for the game. The Barons tallied a hit in each of the first three innings of play with singles coming from Kyran Coleman in the first, Michael Son in the second, and Kendall Wade in the third.

BPC had a good opportunity to open the second inning, placing Kennard Dawson on first with a leadoff walk followed by Son's base hit. Unfortunately, the duo was left stranded. In the bottom half of the second, Point took advantage of a pair of walks, a stolen base, and a wild pitch to score a run.

The BPC offense remained relatively cool for the remainder of the contest, recording just a double from Jack Morris in the fifth as well as a single from Dawson in the sixth. Brewton-Parker left another pair stranded in the seventh after earning walks from Drew DeMasi and Brandon Lawrence to drop the game in a 1-0 defeat.
