Barons Secure 2-1 Win Over (RV) Point in Game Three’s Resumption

WEST POINT, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Baseball returned to West Point, Ga. on Tuesday afternoon to resume play in the third contest of the SSAC series at (RV) Point (Ga.) which was halted on Saturday due to weather as well as poor playing conditions.

The Barons (18-26, 10-17 SSAC) downed the Skyhawks (30-15, 16-11 SSAC) in a tight 2-1 victory, with scores in the sixth and seventh innings to steal the win.

How It Happened | G3 – BPC 2, PU 1

On Saturday, the game was halted in the bottom of the fourth inning with the Barons holding a 1-0 deficit to the Skyhawks. The game was continued this afternoon and Brewton-Parker managed to take advantage of the break.

After a scoreless fifth inning, BPC utilized three walks and a wild pitch to help load the bases before an RBI walk from Jack Morris scored the tying run with two outs. The Barons added another to the tally in the seventh with a single from Tate Worrell and an RBI single from Kennard Dawson to take a 2-1 advantage.

Both Brewton-Parker and Point notched a hit each in the eighth and left a runner stranded. In the ninth, BPC left one stranded with a hit while the Skyhawks left the bases loaded with the Barons holding Point scoreless for the one-run victory.

Inside the Statistics
  • Brewton-Parker held an 8-5 edge in hits.
  • Worrell led with three hits and a run scored and was followed by an RBI as well as two hits from Dawson.
  • Bryce Morley started on the bump and tossed for three innings, striking out two while allowing just three hits for one run.
  • Ty Cook (8-5) earned the win after completing six innings and striking out six batters in the process while walking three and allowing just two hits.
