AUGUSTA, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Softball traveled to Augusta, Ga. on Tuesday afternoon to compete against NCCAA opponent Paine (Ga.) for a non-conference pair of games.
The Lady Barons (22-14) split with the Lions (14-16), dropping a tight 2-1 loss in the first game and securing an 11-5 victory in game two.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 1, PC 2
The Lady Barons scored first in the opening frame as
Destiny Lucas doubled to left field and scored off a single down the left field line from
Tori Wright. Paine managed to eventually respond in the bottom of the fourth inning with a solo homer to level the game.
Brewton-Parker had an opportunity in the top of the sixth to bring some runners home yet left the pair on base.
Taylor Elliott notched a two-out single and was pushed to second on a single from
Hailey Gabrich, unfortunately, both were left stranded.
The Lady Barons created another opportunity to score in the seventh as
BryAnn Pound singled as a pinch hitter for
Skylar Strickland.
Ashley Wilson followed with a walk to produce to runners on base, but the duo was left stranded as BPC was held scoreless.
In the bottom of the seventh, Paine opened with a double down the right-field line and placed a runner on third from a wild pitch. The Lions produced a single to bring home the winning score in walk-off fashion, securing a 2-1 victory.
Inside the Statistics
- A total of seven individual Lady Barons produced hits as BPC led 7-4 in hits with Wright notching the lone RBI.
- Lucas recorded BPC's lone extra-base hit.
- Natalie O'Neal (11-8) pitched the entirety of the game, giving away two earned runs while walking one batter and striking out six.

Paine opened with a two-run advantage in the first inning, scoring on a sacrifice fly and an RBI triple. Brewton-Parker claimed a 3-2 lead in the top of the second with a two-run homer from Gabrich followed by a solo homer from Pound for the one-run edge.
The Lions quickly answered with a three-run homer to move back in control of the score, leading 5-3 after the bottom of the second inning. With a scoreless third passing, the Lady Barons closed out the game scoring at least one run in the following four innings of action.
Wilson barreled an RBI single to pull within one run in the fourth inning before Wright gathered an RBI on a ground out in the fifth inning to level the game at 5-5. Gabrich boomed a ball out of center field to score two more for the Lady Barons as BPC led 7-5 in the fifth.
Brewton-Parker moved to a 10-5 lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single from
Rylie Lumley, followed by a run scored on an error, and an RBI single from Wright. Wilson notched herself an RBI on a groundout in the seventh to give BPC an 11-5 lead as the Lady Barons were able to hold onto the six-run advantage.

- Gabrich led the Lady Barons after going 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs scored to help give BPC an 11-7 edge in hits.
- Gabrich gathered two homers while Pound notched one as well.
- Kira Altman started and pitched for 4.0 innings, allowing five earned runs on six hits and two walks.
- Maeleigh Burns (1-0) earned her first win, pitching for 3.0 innings and allowing just one hit while walking a pair as well as striking out one batter.
