MOUNT VERNON Ga. – Brewton-Parker Softball hosted Tennessee Southern for a Friday afternoon doubleheader in Mount Vernon.
Brewton-Parker (18-10, 8-6 SSAC) doused the Firehawks (15-17, 3-13 SSAC) in a doubleheader sweep, taking a 5-3 win in game one and a 14-13 walk-off victory in 10 innings for game two.

The Lady Barons started the game strong with a single and a stolen base from
Alexis Bradshaw.
Tori Wright brought in Bradshaw with a single and was followed by a double from
Hailey Gabrich to give BPC a 2-0 advantage.
After a scoreless second inning, Bradshaw picked up another single and advanced to third from
Destiny Lucas with a sacrifice bunt. A sacrifice fly from Wright brought Bradshaw in, giving BPC a three-run lead.
In the fourth inning, Gabrich picked up a single, and a stolen base and advanced on a wild pitch to place herself in a threatening position.
Chloe Strickland brought Gabrich in with a sacrifice fly to center field, making it a 4-0 ball game.
The Firehawks made a push in the top of the sixth, picking up two runs off of three hits. In the bottom of the sixth, Wright picked up a single and got to second from an
Alyssa Usrey sacrifice bunt. Gabrich hit a single to left field to get Wright to third base. A sacrifice fly from
Taylor Elliott brought Wright home, giving the Lady Barons a 5-2 advantage.
In the top of the seventh, Tennessee Southern picked up two walks and a single to load the bases before scoring on a hit by pitch. Brewton-Parker was able to hold off the Firehawks to secure a 5-3 victory in game one.
Inside the Statistics
- Brewton-Parker led 7-8 in hits with Bradshaw and Wright leading the team with two hits and two runs each, while Gabrich had three hits and one run.
- Natalie O'Neal (10-6) pitched six innings and gathered three strikeouts while giving up one walk, three hits, and two runs.
- Maeleigh Burns pitched one inning and gathered one strikeout while giving up two walks and one hit.

Tennessee Southern struck first in the top of the second inning of game two with a home run to left field. The Lady Barons responded with a three-run inning. Elliott got on base with a Firehawk fielding error and Strickland got hit by a pitch to have two runners on base.
Ashley Wilson picked up a two-RBI double and Lucas brought Wilson home with a single to give BPC a 3-1 advantage at the end of the second inning.
After a scoreless third inning, Strickland picked up a double and
Hannah Rust got walked to put two Lady Barons on base. Wright brought both of them home with a triple to right center field and came home with a single from Usrey to make the game 6-1.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Firehawks gathered some momentum and scored six runs on five hits to take a 7-6 lead. In the bottom of the fifth,
BryAnn Pound made it to second from a single and a stolen base. A sacrifice bunt from Strickland put Pound on third base. Wilson picked up a single to put runners on the corners and a single from Bradshaw brought in Pound to tie the game up at 7-7.
The Firehawks continued the pressure in the top of the sixth inning putting the Lady Barons into a 11-7 deficit with a series of five more hits to pick up four runs. In the bottom of the sixth, Usrey and Gabrich picked up singles, and Pound got hit by a pitch to load the bases.
Strickland hit a sacrifice fly to bring in Usrey. Wilson came up and gathered a two-RBI double to bring home Gabrich and Pound, cutting the deficit to only one run. Bradshaw picked up a double to bring Wilson home and advanced to third off the throw. Lucas gathered a single to get Bradshaw home giving Brewton-Parker a 12-11 lead.
Tennessee Southern tied the game back up 12-12 and held BPC to nothing in the seventh inning to force the game into extra innings.
After a scoreless eighth inning, both teams scored runs in the ninth making it a 13-13 ballgame. With a walk and a stolen base, Lucas got to second, when Usrey hit a double to left field to bring in the tying run.
In the bottom of the 10th, Gabrich was placed on second and a single from Elliott got her to third. Pound would end the game with a sacrifice fly to right field to bring in Gabrich to secure the 14-13 victory over the Firehawks.

- Wilson led the team with three hits and two runs, while Gabrich had two hits and two runs.

- Kira Altman (8-4) picked up the win and pitched six innings total. Altman gathered two strikeouts and gave up four walks, eight hits, and seven runs.
