MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Softball went 1-1 with Blue Mountain (Miss.) on Thursday afternoon in Mount Vernon.
Brewton-Parker (16-10, 6-6 SSAC) split with the Toppers (13-15, 5-9 SSAC), dropping game one 3-0, bouncing back in game two for a 4-1 victory.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 0, BMC 3
The first two innings resulted in scoreless efforts despite a two-out double from Tori Wright in the bottom half of the first frame. The Toppers would strike in the third inning, picking up a series of hits to take a three-run advantage.
Brewton-Parker had some opportunities to score but struggled to capitalize. The Lady Barons left a runner on base in the fourth inning with Destiny Lucas producing a leadoff single. In the sixth, BPC reached on a walk from Lucas and a single from Wright, yet left two runners stranded.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Barons found a leadoff single from Hailey Gabrich followed by a base hit from Chloe Strickland. Unfortunately, a double play and a pop-up would end the potential comeback efforts for a 3-0 loss in the first game of the day.

· Wright led the team with two hits while Lucas, Gabrich, and Strickland all notched a hit each.
· Natalie O'Neal (9-6) pitched four innings and gave up four walks. four hits, and three runs.
· Maeleigh Burns pitched three innings and gave up a pair of hits and two walks as well.
How It Happened | G2 – BPC 4, BMC 1
The Lady Barons took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning of game two. A single and a stolen base put Alexis Bradshaw on second base. Lucas would make it to first on a Blue Mountain error before advancing to second, giving BPC two runners in scoring position. Sacrifice flies from Wright and Alyssa Usrey brought in the two runs.
In the next four innings, neither team scored a run. The Toppers closed the gap to one in the top of the sixth off a bunt and a hit to get a runner to third. The runner came in on a BPC throwing error.
In the bottom of the sixth, a double from Wright sparked some momentum for the Lady Barons. Gabrich picked up a single to bring Wright home and Taylor Elliott got Gabrich home for the 4-1 advantage. Brewton-Parker held Blue Mountain to just one hit and a walk in the seventh to secure a 4-1 win in game two.
