MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Baseball returned home for a four-game weekend series against Rio Grande (Ohio), beginning with a pair of games on Friday.
The Barons (4-5) took care of the Red Storm (0-8) with a 7-3 victory in game one followed by a 14-7 win in the second contest.

Kendell Wade put the Barons on the board with a sacrifice flyout in the bottom of the second inning, bringing home
Drew DeMasi for the first run. After a stolen base from
Carson Kirby,
Kyran Coleman took advantage of a passed ball to score the second run for a 2-0 advantage.
With a scoreless third to pass, the Red Storm would go on to level the game with a two-run homer in the top of the fourth inning. Brewton-Parker moved back ahead with an RBI double from Kirby in the bottom half of the inning for a 3-2 lead.
Rio Grande pulled the game back level in the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly of their own for a 3-3 scoreline yet the Barons continued to respond, scoring two with a two-run homer from Coleman in the bottom of the fifth. With a 5-3 lead,
Michael Son barreled a two-run homer for himself to give the Barons a 7-3 advantage in the sixth inning. Brewton-Parker held on to the four-run lead, closing the contest in the seventh.

- Brewton-Parker led 8-6 in hits with Coleman and Wade leading with a pair of hits each.
- Both Coleman and Son notched two RBIs each with their homers.
- The BPC baserunners totaled six stolen bases with Kirby and Wade snagging three bags each.
- Alex Muns started and tossed for the first 4.1 innings, giving away all three earned runs to the Red Storm while striking out three and walking two.

How It Happened | G2 – BPC 14, RIO 7
The Red Storm opened game two with some vengeance with a pair of solo homers in the first inning for the early 2-0 lead. The Barons swiftly responded with four runs in the bottom half of the inning, to claim their stake at the lead. BPC found the first run off an error from the visitors before Son smashed a three-run shot for the 4-2 lead.
Brewton-Parker continued with the hot bats in the second inning with Kirby notching an RBI double for a three-run edge. BPC then added another run on a dropped fly ball before adding a pair off a single from DeMasi where the pair of runners scored on an error after the base hit.
Jack Morris would then push in another pair with a double for a 10-2 lead before Mantooth doubled in another run for a nine-run advantage. To close the second inning, BPC crossed the plate one more time with a bases-loaded hit by pitch from
Brandon Lawrence for the 12-2 lead.
The Red Storm gained a run back with an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning before Son managed to respond in the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run. With a shortened game in sight, Rio Grande battled back in the top of the seventh with four runs on five hits and an error to cut the BPC lead down to 13-7.
Brewton-Parker added one final run to the tally in the bottom of the seventh with a sacrifice fly from
Jordan Rahn for a 14-7 advantage before closing the game out with a scoreless eighth and ninth innings.

- The Barons gave up four errors while the Red Storm gave up three.
