Brewton-Parker Lady Barons Rally to Overcome Coastal Georgia

MOUNT VERNON, Nov 4 — The Brewton-Parker Lady Barons staged a spirited second-half comeback to take a necessary win against the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners on Monday, finishing 59-45. The non-conference face-off at Brewton-Parker's home court saw the team reverse a halftime deficit to triumph.

Despite trailing by one point at halftime with a score of 27-28, the Lady Barons showcased their resilience in a crucial game moment. A pivotal seven-point run at the end of the second quarter set the stage for a dramatic second half. Destanee Wright (20 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal), Chasity Degale (11 points, 2 rebounds, 3 steals), Andranique Stewart (10 points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal) and Angel McRae (4 points, 14 rebounds, 3 steals) were influential in turning the game around for the Lady Barons. The Lady Barons once again dominated their opponents on the glass pulling down 40 rebounds versus the Mariners 35. The Lady Barons continue to show the importance of being strong on the glass.

Coach Steve Edwards expressed mixed feelings about the victory, stating, "We found a way to get a tough win. We did not play well tonight but that had a lot to do with Coastal Georgia. They were physical and we did not match their intensity early. We were better in the second half. We have to get a lot better and I believe we will. We have a tough road trip coming up and we look forward to the challenge," highlighting the challenges faced and the improvements needed ahead of their next clash.

The win boosts Brewton-Parker's record to 2-1 for the season, with conference play starting on November 14. Their next encounter will see them facing Bethel University in Kentucky on Nov 8.
