Brewton-Parker Lady Barons Basketball Struggle in Matchup Against Bethel Wildcats at Powell Gym

Mount Vernon, Ga. - Brewton-Parker College faced a tough test on November 8, 2024, at the Powell Gym as they were defeated by the Bethel (TN) Wildcats, 43-77. Despite strong efforts, the Lady Barons were unable to keep up with the Wildcats' pace, concluding the game with a significant loss.

From the onset, Bethel (TN) took an early lead, setting the tone at halftime with a score of 33-26. They continued to dominate throughout the second half, amplifying their lead and securing a notable victory by the final whistle. The Lady Barons' top scorer Chasity Degale showcased a commendable performance, contributing 18 points. However, Brewton-Parker overall struggled against the Wildcats' robust defense and consistent offense.

Coach Steve Edwards reflected on the team's performance and the challenges faced during the game. "We were out classed today by a better team. We always look for opportunities to play really good teams and today we learned a lot about our group. I have to do a better job of preparing us for games like today. I also have to do a better job of getting this group to play at their potential. We like our group and we believe in time, we will be a really good team," stated Edwards, emphasizing the learning and growth potential from these tough games.

Looking ahead, the Brewton-Parker Lady Barons will not have much time to regroup as they are set to face Campbellsville University (Ky.) in their next game at Powell Gym on November 9, 2024. With the current team record standing at 2-2, the Lady Barons are eager to get back on track and showcase their improvement.

As they prepare for their upcoming game, the team remains spirited and optimistic about overcoming this setback and demonstrating their true potential on the court.
