MOUNT VERNON, Ga. Nov 18 — In a thrilling non-conference basketball game at Mount Vernon, the Brewton-Parker College Lady Barons emerged victorious, defeating the Spartanburg Methodist College Pioneers with a dominating score of 73-57. The game on November 18, 2024, saw the Lady Barons explosive second half performance to carry them to victory.
The Lady Barons, who now hold a 4-3 record, found themselves a narrow lead at halftime with a score of 36-34. However, under the guidance of Coach
Steve Edwards, they ramped up their defensive efforts and extended their lead in the late stages of the game. Notable performances came from
Angel McRae, who led the scoring with 19 points and also contributed a significant 11 rebounds and 6 steals.
Destanee Wright added 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 assists, while
Cori Keats chipped in with 15 points, 1 rebound, and 3 assists.
"It's always important for us to protect home court. We were able to do that tonight," Coach Edwards commented after the game. "We are going through some growing pains as a new group.
