MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Brewton-Parker Lady Barons started conference play by hosting the Point University Lady Skyhawks, dominating the game from start to finish. The Lady Barons got an early lead in the first three minutes of the first quarter and never gave it up. The Lady Barons ran away with the game with a commanding win of 86-52 over Point to start conference play off with a win. The win brings the Lady Barons back to .500 on the season, and they plan to use the momentum from their win in their future games.Â
Lady Barons head coach Steve Edwards shared his feelings on the impressive victory: "We have been working really hard to be a good defensive team. We have improved, but we still have a long way to go. We played a solid game at home and want to build on tonight," The Lady Barons feel confident in their ability to grow as the season continues.Â
Lading Brewton-Parker's scoring was a combination of dominating performances from Chasity Degale and Destanee Wright. Chastity scored 18 points and 13 rebounds and added two blocks and a steal for the night, and Destanee scored 18 points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals. The Lady Barons dominated the glass, rebounding the Lady Skyhawks.Â
At halftime, the score reflected the Lady Barons' dominance, as they led 39-24. Coming out of the break, the Lady Barons kept the pressure going to have one of the best third quarters of their season, scoring 25 to carry them to victory. The Lady Barons get back on the court against Spartanburg Methodist College on Monday, November 18, at Gillis Gymnasium.Â
