MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Lady Barons Volleyball team faced off against the Point University Skyhawks on Wednesday evening, and despite coming off a win, the Lady Barons failed to carry over the momentum against Point and lost in three straight sets. The Lady Barons are in the final stretch of games and now need to win out their remaining conference schedule to try and make the playoffs.
Coach Obed Quiles shared his thoughts on the tough loss. "We sadly didn't come out to play tonight, and that is what happens when you don't come out prepared. I have to do a better job of preparing them to play in these important late-season conference games."
First Set
The Lady Barons started the match strong, staying in the game and trading points with the Skyhawks. They ended the set with ten kills and four errors on 40 attempts for a .150 hitting percentage. However, despite having the lead, the Lady Barons were unable to hold off Point's comeback and lost 26-24 to give up the first set.
Second Set
The Lady Barons' struggles continued into the second set after losing the momentum in the first set and blowing an early lead. The Lady Barons only had nine kills and ten errors. Point came back from trailing six-nothing. The Skyhawks took over the game after tying up the game at eight before taking the lead and eventually winning.
Third Set
The third set saw the Lady Barons fall behind early and never manage to tie up the game. The Lady Barons were forced to chase the entire third set. The Lady Barons ended the third set with eight kills and eight errors for a .000 hitting percentage and were unable to stop the Skyhawks.
