MOUNT VERNON, Ga. - The Lady Barons Soccer team traveled to Thomas University on Saturday for an afternoon match. The Lady Barons entered the match and seemed to carry over the excitement from their previous win, scoring first just eight minutes into the match. Unfortunately for the Lady Barons, that would not be enough to stop the offensive outpouring from Thomas, who scored two unanswered to go into the half with the lead and then scored five unanswered goals in the second half to win seven-one.
Coach Philip Borde shared his thoughts on the tough loss. "Praise God for the opportunity to compete today. Thomas was the better team and earned the result they got. A little bit of our age showed today after taking the lead, to then concede the way we did. However, this is part of the growing pains that occur when you are on the road and very young. The first half of the game was enough to know that this group has great potential. I look forward to getting back to the training ground next week God willing,"
First Half
The Lady Barons started the match with an early goal and her first of the season from Amira El Mansouri to take the lead early. Sadly, Thomas found an equalizer just four minutes later. Both teams went back and forth, trading chances, and 17 minutes later, Thomas scored again to take the lead. The Lady Barons held Thomas to no more goals for the remainder of the first half.
Second Half
The Lady Barons could not contain the Night Hawks as Sasha Manders scored twice in forty seconds to up the lead to four-one. The Lady Barons' struggles continued as the Night Hawks scored in the 65th minute, 74th minute, and again in the 80th minute to take a seven-one lead.
