TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Brewton-Parker Men's Basketball traveled to Tuscaloosa, Ala. to take on Stillman (Ala.) for a Southern State Athletic Conference matchup on Thursday night.
The Barons (8-12, 4-8 SSAC) fell on the road to the Tigers (11-7, 8-3 SSAC) in a 95-74 loss.
How It Happened | First Half
Zailan Blue opened things up with a bucket from beyond the arc to take an early lead for BPC. Stillman answered swiftly with an 8-0 run to take a five-point lead before
Lance Smith responded at the 17:33 mark to cut the deficit to three.
Brewton-Parker battled back into the game, pulling the score as close as one point at the 15:19 mark with
Damarcus Johnson Jr. scoring three of the Barons' five points in a 5-3 stretch. BPC battled through some back-and-forth play and eventually caught steam to propel forward, leveling the scoreline to 20-20 with 11:58 to play in the half.
The Barons continued to answer each Stillman shot with a score of their own in some additional back-and-forth play. BPC eventually broke through another draw to secure a 29-27 lead with a trey from
Jordan Johnson at the 9:44 mark.
Stillman answered with a pair of threes over the next few minutes to reclaim a 33-29 lead.
Kendall Norrington Jr. helped BPC move the deficit down to two at the 6:33 mark and 5:05 mark. The Tigers extended their lead to seven with a trey and a layup, leading 40-33 with less than four minutes to play. BPC went on a 9-5 stretch to pull the SC lead down to 45-42 with 1:30 left before the Tigers finished the half with a 9-3 run of their own to close with a 52-45 lead.
How It Happened | Second Half
Dre Burroughs opened the half with a jumper to help cut the BPC deficit to five with Stillman responding shortly after with a pair of layups, moving to a 56-47 lead. The Tigers then moved to an 11-point lead in response to a
Justin Boston layup before shifting to a 64-51 lead with another pair of layups.
Brewton-Parker began battling and produced a 15-8 stretch of scoring which spanned 6:47 and was led by six points from Blue, cutting the deficit down to just six points with less than nine minutes to play.
Stillman defended the short burst in momentum from Brewton-Parker and responded with a huge 23-8 shift in the final eight minutes to secure the 95-74 victory over BPC. The Tigers utilized a 43-29 half to separate themselves from any chance of a comeback effort.

- BPC shot 45.2% (28-of-62) from the field, 31% (9-of-29) from three, and 81.8% (9-of-11) from the foul line.
- Four Barons scored in double-figures with Smith leading with 15 points followed by 14 from Blue, 12 from Norrington Jr., and 11 from Boston.
- The BPC defense took care of 20 turnovers from the Tigers, securing 10 steals in the process as Smith and Burroughs both snagged three each.
