Men’s Soccer Falls in Four-Goal Loss to No. 11 Mobile

MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker Men's Soccer continued Southern States Athletic Conference action on Thursday night, playing hosts to No. 11-ranked Mobile (Ala.) in Mount Vernon, Ga.

The Barons (1-8-0, 0-4-0 SSAC) dropped four goals to the Rams (5-2-2, 4-0-1 SSAC) in a tough loss on home soil.

"We gave ourselves a mountain to climb after conceding in the first five minutes, a specter that continues to visit," Head Coach Bob Neumann said. "Experience was the difference tonight."

"Too many times we got ourselves put into situations that we could've dealt with and didn't," Neumann mentioned. "It's going to take a great deal more maturity if we're going to get some positive results in the coming weeks."

How It Happened | First Half

The Rams took advantage of an early handball from the Barons, forcing a corner kick off a set piece within the first two minutes of play. Mobile slipped through the BPC defense and slotted home a goal at the 1:45 mark to take a one-goal lead.

After a pair of shots from the visitors, Brewton-Parker ripped three shots within the span of two minutes. Two sailed wide with just one landing between the posts as Landon Brafford's attempt was saved in the 27th minute.

Mobile took advantage of a misplaced ball from Brewton-Parker, scoring a second goal at the 34:02 mark to lead by a pair. The Rams were denied two times by Andrea Abwe in the final five minutes to close out the half with a two-goal advantage.

How It Happened | Second Half

Mobile was very fortunate to receive a gift from the BPC backline, as the Barons gave up an own goal off a bad clearance in the 53rd minute to move to a three-goal deficit.
With a comfortable lead, the visitors began reloading from the bench to provide depth to the starting lineup. Eventually, Mobile's fresh legs wore Brewton-Parker down until a fourth goal was made in the 86th minute for a 4-0 lead.

Despite the pair of goals, BPC managed to hold the Rams to just five overall shots in the second half while also producing three of their own.
