BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. – Brewton-Parker softball faced Blue Mountain (Miss.) on the road on Thursday evening with an SSAC doubleheader.
The Lady Barons (18-20, 8-16 SSAC) split with the Toppers (17-23, 8-16 SSAC) in a 6-2 loss and a 13-3 win.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 2, BMCU 6
MacKenzie Tripp connected for the game's first hit in the top of the second yet was left stranded as the Lady Barons notched three-straight groundouts to close out the inning. Blue Mountain took control of the score in the bottom of the second, producing a home run and three singles to score two runs to take a 2-0 lead.
Brewton-Parker secured a single from
Skylar Strickland followed by a double from
Alexis Bradshaw to set up an RBI ground for
Alyssa Usrey to gain a run back in the third inning. The Toppers had another answer in the bottom half of the inning by utilizing an error from BPC and an RBI single to take a 3-1 advantage.
BMCU continued to control the game, adding to the tally in the fifth inning with three runs off three hits to move to a 6-1 lead. The Lady Barons produced an RBI single from
Ashley Wilson in the top of the seventh to add a run, but BPC could only reach as close as a 6-2 ballgame despite notching three hits.

- Blue Mountain held a narrow 10-9 lead in hits.
- Strickland finished the game 3-of-3 from the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
- Wilson finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as well while Bradshaw and Tripp both notched a pair of hits.
- Laykin Brown (6-11) received the loss, tossing for four innings and giving up five earned runs. She also gave up nine hits while walking two batters.
- Emma Garner closed the game in the final two innings, allowing just one hit.

Brewton-Parker left two runners stranded in the opening inning as Bradshaw and
Abbey Flowers both produced base hits. The Lady Barons continued the offensive efforts in the second inning with
Chloe Strickland notching a single in leadoff position followed by
Cayden Fleming's base hit.
Skylar Strickland then grounded out to bring home a run before Wilson grounded out to score the second to give BPC a 2-0 lead.
The Lady Barons added to the tally in the third inning with Usrey notching a leadoff hit before
Chloe Strickland reached on an error which scored Usrey for the three-run edge. Brewton-Parker advanced to a convincing 7-0 lead in the fifth inning with a double from
Kristi Peters followed by RBI singles from
Skylar Strickland, Wilson and Usrey before Wilson scored on a wild pitch for the seventh run for BPC.
Blue Mountain eventually put some runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth with a home run and an RBI single to pull the deficit down to five runs. The Lady Barons quickly gained two runs back in the sixth inning with a triple from Tripp, an RBI double from Peters, and a single from Fleming to take a 9-2 lead.
The Toppers notched another solo shot in the sixth to add a third run to the tally before the Lady Barons scored four more runs in the seventh inning for a 13-3 lead. Usrey notched an RBI base hit while Tripp barreled a two-RBI triple followed by another RBI base hit from Peters.

- Brewton-Parker dominated the hitting category 20-5.
- Wilson led the offensive efforts, batting 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a pair of runs.
- Both Usrey and Peters finished with a 3-for-5 evening with two RBIs and two runs each.
- Tripp's two hits for the game were triples while Peters notched two doubles followed by Wilson's double.
- Kristi Peters (4-5) earned the win by pitching all seven innings. She gave up three earned runs while allowing five hits. She struck out two batters and walked one.
