THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Brewton-Parker baseball traveled to Thomasville to take on non-conference opponent, Thomas on Tuesday evening.
The Barons (16-27) fell to the Night Hawks (19-24) in a tight 5-4 battle on the road.
How It Happened
Brewton-Parker opened the game with a single from
Kyran Coleman before adding
Jack Morris to first after getting hit by a pitch.
Kennard Dawson doubled to bring home Coleman with
Anyelo Sanchez recording a sacrifice flyout to score Morris for the two-run lead.
Thomas responded with a single, a stolen base, and an RBI base hit to gain one run back in the bottom half of the first inning, yet the Barons answered in the second with a double from
Malik Germany and an RBI single from Coleman to take a 3-1 advantage.
The Night Hawks notched a leadoff double followed by a two-run homer to level the game in the bottom of the third inning before barreling a solo shot to take a one-run edge. After three scoreless innings, the hosts took advantage of an error from the BPC defense before knocking in an RBI double to move to a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning.
Brewton-Parker managed to eventually add another run to the tally in the eighth inning with
Eduardo Castillo recording a leadoff hit followed by
Jacob Mantooth's RBI single to make the game 5-4. Unfortunately, the Barons were unable to pull another run in after being held hitless in the ninth inning to close the game with the one-run deficit.

- Thomas held a narrow 10-9 advantage in hits while both teams were level 2-2 in doubles.
- The Night Hawks notched two homers in the game.
- Both Coleman and Mantooth led BPC with two hits each as well as an RBI apiece.
- Ryan Dopson and Chandler Koerner split duties on the mound, pitching an even four innings each.
- Dopson (8-5) received the loss, giving up four earned runs and six hits. He struck out two batters and walked two as well.
- Koerner struck out four batters, walked one, and gave up just four hits.
