Barons Drop 5-4 Loss at Thomas

THOMASVILLE, Ga. – Brewton-Parker baseball traveled to Thomasville to take on non-conference opponent, Thomas on Tuesday evening.

The Barons (16-27) fell to the Night Hawks (19-24) in a tight 5-4 battle on the road.

How It Happened

Brewton-Parker opened the game with a single from Kyran Coleman before adding Jack Morris to first after getting hit by a pitch. Kennard Dawson doubled to bring home Coleman with Anyelo Sanchez recording a sacrifice flyout to score Morris for the two-run lead.

Thomas responded with a single, a stolen base, and an RBI base hit to gain one run back in the bottom half of the first inning, yet the Barons answered in the second with a double from Malik Germany and an RBI single from Coleman to take a 3-1 advantage.

The Night Hawks notched a leadoff double followed by a two-run homer to level the game in the bottom of the third inning before barreling a solo shot to take a one-run edge. After three scoreless innings, the hosts took advantage of an error from the BPC defense before knocking in an RBI double to move to a 5-3 lead in the sixth inning.

Brewton-Parker managed to eventually add another run to the tally in the eighth inning with Eduardo Castillo recording a leadoff hit followed by Jacob Mantooth's RBI single to make the game 5-4.
