MOUNT VERNON, Ga.– Brewton-Parker baseball continued its weekend series against Stillman (Ala.) on Saturday with a doubleheader for Senior Day in Mount Vernon.
The Barons (16-26, 7-14 SSAC) took a pair of wins over the Tigers (12-23, 1-17 SSAC) to sweep the series and extend the winning streak to seven-straight contests. It was a bittersweet day for four senior student-athletes as the baseball program honored their accomplishments while at BPC in between both games.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 5, SC 4
Game one of the day was the scheduled seven-inning contest but resulted in an extra-inning contest that extended out to the 10th inning. Stillman opened with three runs in the opening inning taking advantage of an error, a hit, and a couple of walks to help take an early lead.
The Barons left two stranded in the bottom of the first with
Kennard Dawson earning a base hit and
Eduardo Castillo walking. The Tigers were flirting with some more runs in the second inning, leaving the bases loaded to close the inning.
Jacob Mantooth barreled a leadoff double in the second and scored on a double from
Tate Worrell as the Barons cut the deficit down to two runs. The Barons tallied another run in the bottom of the fourth inning, connecting for singles from
Malik Germany and
J. Reid Phillips. Worrell reached on an error which Germany scored on the play to cut the deficit down to just one run.
In the top of the sixth inning, Stillman jumped to a two-run lead by producing three hits for one run to take a 4-2 advantage. In the bottom half of the seventh with the game on the line, Worrell homered to right center to level the game at four runs each to extend the game beyond the scheduled seven innings.
After a scoreless two and a half innings, BPC put a runner on after a pitch hit Dawson to lead the inning off. After two-straight outs, Mantooth singled to advance Dawson before Germany came in clutch with an RBI base hit to score the winning run in walk off fashion, giving BPC the 5-4 win in extra innings.
Inside the Statistics
- Both teams notched 10 hits each. Stillman gave up two errors while BPC gave up one.
- Phillips was efficient with a 2-for-3 day at the plate while Worrell was 2-for-4 with four RBIs.
- Germany and Mantooth both notched a pair of hits while Germany secured the game-winning RBI.
- Brewton-Parker produced four doubles and a homer in the game.
- Robin Haven started on the mound, tossing for six innings. He gave up three earned runs on seven hits while striking out five batters and walking four.
- Chandler Koerner (1-2) earned the win, pitching for four innings. He gave up three hits and struck out three batters as well.

Stillman opened game two hot, utilizing a single, a double and an error to push across three runs for an early lead. Brewton-Parker gained two runs back in the bottom half of the first inning with a double from
Kyran Coleman who eventually stole home for the first run. BPC added another run taking advantage of an error from the Tigers to make the game 3-2.
The Tigers then responded well in the second inning, moving to a three-run advantage by gathering three hits to score two runs for a 5-2 edge. The Barons managed to respond in the bottom of the third with a solo homer from Dawson to pull back to a two-run deficit before exploding to a 10-5 lead in the fourth inning.
Brewton-Parker claimed control of the score with seven runs in the fourth inning.
Anyelo Sanchez led the inning off by reaching on an error which was followed by a single from
Drew DeMasi and Mantooth. Germany then notched a sacrifice fly for a score before Worrell tripled to right field for two RBIs, giving BPC a 6-5 lead. After Worrell's triple, BPC loaded the bases with a walk and a hit by pitch to set up a grand slam for Dawson to take a 10-5 lead.
The Barons tallied another run with an RBI double from Worrell to advance to an 11-5 lead in the fifth, following with two runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure a 13-5 edge over the visitors, slamming the door closed in the seventh to secure the sweep.
Inside the Statistics
- Brewton-Parker led 7-5 in hits with Stillman giving up three errors in the game.
- Dawson led the offensive efforts for BPC, going 2-for-3 on the day with six RBIs followed by Worrell's 2-for-3 performance with three RBIs.
- Worrell finished the weekend with 10 RBIs, five hits, two doubles, and a triple to lead BPC.
- Ty Cook (4-10) earned the win, pitching for six innings. He gave up four earned runs on five hits while striking out seven batters and walking three.
- Noah Burns closed out the final inning with a strikeout.
