MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Brewton-Parker hosted SSAC foe Stillman (Ala.) on Saturday for a two-game conference slate in Mount Vernon.
The Lady Barons (8-6, 1-3 SSAC) split with the Tigers (13-3, 1-1 SSAC) with a 3-1 victory in game one followed by a 6-1 loss in game two.
How It Happened | G1 – BPC 3, SC 1
Brewton-Parker managed to put two runners on base with a walk from
Alexis Bradshaw and a single from
Abbey Flowers, but the two runners were left on base to close out the first inning. Both teams were dealt with quickly with three out on both sides to leave a scoreless second inning on the board.
Bradshaw was walked yet a gain in the third but was left on base to close out the third inning in a scoreless affair before the Lady Barons tallied all three runs in the bottom of the fourth with just one hit while taking advantage of two errors from the visitors.
After a leadoff hit by pitch,
Chloe Strickland notched a bunt to advance
MacKenzie Tripp followed by an error on the Tigers which moved Tripp to third. Tripp then crossed home on a sacrifice bunt from
Josalin Whitten.
Another Lady Baron reached base off a hit by pitch to load the bases before
Skylar Strickland reached on an error that helped to bring home a runner for the second score of the fourth inning. BPC added one more run off a ground out to take a 3-0 lead.
It took until the top of the sixth inning for the Tigers to respond with two hits and an error from BPC to score one run with an RBI single. Brewton-Parker managed to hold on to the lead to close out the final inning of play.

- Both teams notched two hits each while Stillman gave up two errors in the game.
- Brewton-Parker utilized small ball tactics for game one with Alyssa Usrey, Whitten, and Strickland all notching a sacrifice hit.
- Laykin Brown earned her fourth win of the season with one strikeout on the lone earned run, walking a batter as well.

The Lady Barons struck first with a two-out double from Strickland followed by an RBI single from Whitten to take a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. Stillman responded with one hit while taking advantage of a BPC error to add three runs on the board, closing out the inning with three runners on base as well.
Stillman added three additional runs in the bottom of the fourth inning off two hits to take a 6-1 advantage, leaving a runner on. Unfortunately for BPC, the Lady Barons were unable to get the bats producing for the remainder of the game, posting just a single from Bradshaw in the bottom of the sixth.

- The Tigers held a 5-3 advantage in hits.
- Bradshaw, Whitten, and Strickland all notched hits with Whitten recording the lone RBI.
- Two pitchers made appearances for BPC, Kristi Peters (2-1) produced her first loss on the season with three innings, allowing five earned runs, and giving up five walks while striking out two batters.
- Emma Garner closed out the final four innings, striking out five batters and allowing just two hits.
